Description
The Uros Floating Islands are one of the most unique and fascinating cultural attractions in Peru. Located on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world, these extraordinary man-made islands are built entirely from totora reeds that grow naturally along the lake’s shores. For centuries, they have been home to the Uros people, who continue to preserve ancestral traditions, customs, and a distinctive way of life closely connected to the water.
This half-day tour offers an authentic cultural experience and valuable insight into daily life on the lake. Visitors will learn how the islands are constructed and maintained, explore traditional reed houses and boats, and interact with local families who share their history and culture. Surrounded by vast blue waters and breathtaking highland scenery, this experience provides a meaningful and memorable encounter with one of Peru’s most remarkable living cultures.
