Itinerary
- Early Morning Departure from Cusco: The tour begins early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. As we leave the city behind, the route takes us through picturesque Andean valleys, passing traditional villages, farmland, and rolling hills. During the journey, your guide will share insights about the local culture, agriculture, and daily life in the high Andes.
- Breakfast Along the Route: We stop at a local restaurant to enjoy a nutritious breakfast, allowing time to rest and prepare for the hike ahead while surrounded by the peaceful mountain environment.
- Arrival at Soraypampa: After breakfast, we continue driving until we reach Soraypampa, located at approximately 3,900 meters above sea level. This area serves as the base camp for the famous Salkantay Trek and the starting point of the hike to Humantay Lake. Here, your guide will provide a detailed explanation of the trail, safety recommendations, and information about altitude conditions.
- Hike to Humantay Lake: The hike to Humantay Lake takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and follows a steadily ascending trail. As you walk, you will be surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, with views of glaciers, alpine vegetation, and open landscapes where llamas and alpacas often graze. The silence and vastness of the Andes create a truly immersive experience.
- Time at Humantay Lake: Upon reaching Humantay Lake, you will be rewarded with a spectacular view of its intense turquoise waters, fed directly by the melting glacier above. You will have time to walk around the lake, take photographs, and simply enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Your guide will explain the spiritual significance of the lagoon and the traditional Andean rituals associated with this sacred place.
- Descent and Lunch: After spending time at the lake, we begin the descent back to Soraypampa, enjoying different perspectives of the landscape. We then travel to a local restaurant where a well-deserved lunch awaits, allowing you to relax and reflect on the experience.
- Return to Cusco
- In the afternoon, we begin our journey back to Cusco, arriving in the city in the early evening and dropping you off near your hotel.
