Itinerary
- Early Morning Departure from Cusco: The tour begins early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We travel southeast through scenic Andean valleys, passing traditional villages and grazing lands where llamas and alpacas roam freely. During the drive, the guide will provide information about Andean culture, local traditions, and the importance of Ausangate in Andean cosmology.
- Breakfast Stop: We stop at a local restaurant along the route to enjoy breakfast and prepare for the hike, surrounded by the calm atmosphere of the rural Andes.
- Arrival at Pacchanta: After breakfast, we arrive at Pacchanta, a small high-altitude community located at the base of Ausangate Mountain. From here, we begin our hike through breathtaking alpine scenery, with constant views of snow-capped peaks and wide open valleys.
- Hike to the Seven Lakes: The hike takes approximately 4 to 5 hours round trip, following a trail that gradually ascends through the Ausangate landscape. Along the way, we visit the seven glacial lakes, each with its own distinct color and character. The guide will explain the geological origins of the lakes and their spiritual significance for local communities.
- Time to Explore and Enjoy the Scenery: At each lake, there is time to rest, take photographs, and fully appreciate the silence and grandeur of the surroundings. The contrast between the colorful lakes, white glaciers, and rugged mountains creates an extraordinary visual experience.
- Return to Pacchanta and Lunch: After completing the hike, we descend back to Pacchanta, where we enjoy a traditional lunch prepared with local ingredients (lunch included if specified).
- Optional Hot Springs: After lunch, travelers may choose to relax in the Pacchanta hot springs, known for their warm mineral waters and stunning mountain views (optional, entrance not included).
- Return to Cusco: In the afternoon, we begin our journey back to Cusco, arriving in the city in the early evening and dropping you off near your hotel.
