Itinerary
- Early Morning Departure from Cusco: The tour begins early in the morning with pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We travel south of the city through wide valleys, traditional villages, and open Andean landscapes. Along the way, the guide will share information about the region, local customs, and the geological formation of the colorful mountains.
- Breakfast Stop: We stop at a local restaurant to enjoy breakfast and prepare for the experience ahead, surrounded by the calm atmosphere of the Andean countryside.
- Journey to Palcoyo: After breakfast, we continue the journey through high-altitude landscapes until reaching the Palcoyo area. The route offers stunning views of snow-capped mountains, including the Ausangate range, as well as herds of alpacas and llamas grazing freely.
- Walk Through the Colorful Mountains: Upon arrival, we begin a gentle walk through the Palcoyo Rainbow Mountains. Unlike Vinicunca, this route involves minimal hiking, making it accessible to a wide range of travelers. During the walk, you will visit several colorful mountain formations, each displaying different mineral patterns and shades.
- Stone Forest Viewpoint: We continue towards a stone forest, a unique geological formation composed of tall rock structures shaped by natural erosion. From the viewpoint, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and colorful mountains.
- Time to Explore and Photograph: You will have free time to explore the area, take photographs, and enjoy the tranquility of the landscape. The guide will explain the natural history of the area and the significance of these mountains to local communities.
- Lunch Stop: After the visit, we travel to a local restaurant to enjoy lunch, allowing time to rest and reflect on the experience (lunch included if specified).
- Return to Cusco
- In the afternoon, we begin our journey back to Cusco, arriving in the city in the early evening and dropping you off near your hotel.
